…rides again : Saturday 2nd May 2009
This Party was cooked up in a pub. Not surprising that. We were bemoaning the fact that the only time we got to party in a Castle was for stuffy black-tie balls or weddings; where the potent mix of show bands, aged DJ’s and maiden aunts somewhat kills the party buzz. One of us pointed out that we could just go organise our own party and so fancy pants was born…We wanted to find a castle, fill it with great music and fun folks, get a bit decadent, get a bit fancy and have a bit of a blast. We wanted to try to do a bit of good while we were at it- so we decided to donate the proceeds to charity…a party offset if you will.
And so we did exactly that.
And now we want to do it all over again.
So…this May bank holiday weekend Fancy Pants Castle Party wants you to once again embrace your inner fancy-ness, in aid of a good time and 2 great charities (testicular and cervical cancer).
It all kicks of on Saturday 2nd May when we’ve lined up an amazing 370 year old castle set on bazillions of acres of land in Sligo. It’s a nippy two and a half hour drive from Dublin, and seats just 150 people for a full on four-course meal in their beautiful dining room. We get to take over the castle for the night, and for those of you that are really keen to live the castle life there are up to 30 bedrooms available to stay in.
The bar only closes for 45mins (to restock) round 2am and otherwise is open all night. That’s right, I said all night. The castle has a restored (and haunted) chapel, a gothic (always open) bar, a terribly fancy dining room and a deadly party room where we’ve lined up a stellar live act and sweet ass DJ’s to provide only the most kick-ass tunes for your fancy dancing pleasure.
If you don’t believe us, ask the kids that came last year. Dineen was still spinning the tunes at 6am to a full dancefloor and some of us were still wandering about in party gear at breakfast.
